unused air
Sneaky and Selfish, but im not sure why
Theres a guy on a bus, sitting on the window side, bus stops, people get on. He moves over to the aisle seat and then prepares for action. As people wander up the aisle looking for a seat, this guy pretends he is asleep. Are people really that revolting for him? His making the extra effort to NOT sit next to someone. Clearly a man who looks out only for himself. I don’t know him, but I already don’t like him.
How funny. Page 180 of Bill Brysons Neither here Nor there. When an entourage of eight expecting a reservation finds themselves denied of seatage, waiters start running around, frantic to please, then Bill, being the big guy that he is says “you can have my table, im just going” The manager, is much appreciative of his actions and Bills says “Ive never felt so popular. The waiters beamed and many of the other diners regarded me with , if I say it myself, a certain lasting admiration. Even Aldolfo inclined his head in a tiny display of gratitude and respect. As my table was whipped away, I was escorted to the door by the manager and head waiter who bowed and thanked me and brushed my shoulders with a whisk broom and offered me their daughters hand in marriage or just for some hot sex." haha he elaborates more in the book
So ill be leaving Lyon in 4 days to venture into Ireland, England and Scotland. Wowsers. I never thought id be doing that. From the days of skipping on the bright orange elastic, to skipping through each country for real. For realls baby. Ive no idea what to expect. But im afraid of not being able to understand them even if they speak english cos their thick accents. Il be doing alloottaa nodding!
I bought my 60L packpack today and was met with such friendliness. He told me what I wanted to know, helped me with recommendations, gave me time to think, was not pushy and topped it off in the end when he complimented my French and told me I would get 15% off today. After, I checked out some beanies, and there was this brown one that looked particularly funny, but I made the mistake of looking at the security guard who shook his head at me and immediately i doubted my choice of headgear. After while, I still liked it, but after 99% promising mum I wouldn’t buy any more clothes, I left. Even though secretly, I really really liked it! It looked somewhat like a brown wig with a black underlayer.
Also listened to abit of stuff from The Silents and am a big fan. Check out Things to Learn and Little Girl Lost.

The shinbone is a device for finding furniture in a dark room
reading love between the lines:
I heard you two were getting married… and have tattoos of each other’s names, congratulations! I remember last time we met, you were very enamoured. Are you excited or nervous - how does it feel to be getting married?
I used to be very bitter and proud! I thought that being in a relationship was a waste of time. I always thought that personal goals were the only things I wanted to achieve. I thought I could reach for all my sources of inspiration from myself. I've always been ambitious about being independent. I left my parent’s house (although I love them) when I was 16, and got financial independence at 19 by doing illustrations. When I met Simon it was like BOOM! And I'm never alone anymore. He is my best friend. He has changed me forever and I don't need anything else. I could build a house inside him and live there forever.
maybe ill find that one day. cant wait.

lancez dans la bouche de grenouille!
So apparently this film Goemon is coming out in 2009.
Goemon blends science fiction and fantasy with historical and Ninja references.
Sounds perfect.
Irrevelantly, its 130am and theres someone chopping wood outside. or hacking at something.

a brave story
Today's a Friday, sometimes i need to remind myself what day it is because the days fuse into a blur of a week. I had a test yesterday on listening and today an oral evaluation. i got guttered both times but feeling ok about it all.
Watched Le Cahier at the CNP today and boy, was that intense. There was always a fear that something was going to happen to the little girl. And in the end she gets told that if she pretends to die then they will stop harassing her. Im not sure how fictional the storyline is but they portray the future of the country as psycho predators, outsiders who are free to do as they please. And using children as the protagonists in the story makes the consequences ten times more scary.
Was totally intrigued.
The other day, this happened
is she from harry potter??
phrase: tout simplement, il a dit "viens" (the song we had to decipher for the french test)mercredi 12 mars 2008
coffee in a plastic cup
The least exciting thing happened to me today.
Yet it made le plat de jour.
I deposited money into my account using the ATM. The ATM has a drawer that eats up your bills and sorts out whatever you put in. That's how much the French dont want to talk to you. haha just kidding. Hats off to the servez-vous culture in France. I actually enjoy packing my own shopping at the supermarkets (thats what they do here).
No, really!
(ANNDD i just found out my beloved Carrefour exists EVERYWHERE! Japan, Brazil, China, Saudi Arabia)
Second highlight
I paid for my trip en Provence today. That is, to Nimes and Avignon in the Sud de France in the first weekend of April!
Cant wait to down some le fromage et le vin dans le compagne haha cliche central! Speaking of which, some locals told me today that the best wines come from Bordeaux or one called 'Saint Amour'
haha Saint Love.
My french teacher Christine (she's awesome) informed us today that this week, or next week our class will be filmed by some people and broadcasted god knows where on the interactions in class of people learning french. I hope i get to play the pitiful international student who stutters when she attempts to speak french.
oh wait.
ce sera moi.

disappearing brownies
Today i went for a strollabout before my first class. Came across this lil fella. He goes by 'Okuma'
Next week in my class Decouverte de la Ville: Lyon we're headed to La Croixe-Rousse quartier aka la colline de travail: the hill of workers. Im pretty excited about it because i keep hearing of that region but to date, have not been bothered to venture there yet.
So after class, i regretfully missed my table tennis class and went home, scooting in the door to my building just before the clouds started spilling.
The quantity was for two people, but i burned it and so a quarter of it was stuck on the bottom of the saucepan. It was a bitch cleaning it.
Finalement! Something different for dinner :)
French phrases learnt today: La plupart de temps... (most of the time)
meooow
So there i was, amidst the rowdy supporters of Olympique Lyonnais.
I couldnt help but attempt to mimic the chants and say fuck off in french to the supporters of the Girondins de Bordeaux (i didnt know at the time what i was chanting)
wicked ambiance
game well played by OL
4-2

Tiring, but neccessary: my 2000 word reflection piece on my first month stay in Lyon
State of mind: hungry
French phrase learnt aujourd'hui: j'ai senti que j'avais la bonne reponse (JD "I think i have the right response)
